Die Welt ist im Niedergang begriffen und die Menschheit in einem Mahlstrom der Vergnglichkeit geraten. Elend, Not und Leid heben sich zur herrschen empor, um ber eine endlose Wstenei aus Asche und Staub zu gebieten. Chaos ist die Religion und das Chaos Prophet, zu beschwren Verhngnis und Verfall.
Eine solch dunkle Welt breitet sich vor dem geistigen Auge des empfindsamen Hrers aus, wenn Apostle of Solitude ihren endzeitlichen Doom Metal mit aller schleppenden Langsamkeit zelebrieren und jegliche Hoffnung auf einen emotionalen Lichtpunkt sinken lassen. Zu dicht und massiv sind die monolithischen Gitarrenwlle, um auch nur einen Funken positiven Gefhls aufkommen zu lassen. Ein gewaltiges Gewicht ruht auf jedem einzelnen Riff, das sich mit unerbittlicher Kraft hernieder senkt und tief in die Seele grbt. Ein Entkommen gibt es nicht! Der trostlose, resignierende Gesang tut sein briges, um die gegenwrtigen Empfindungen in abgrndige mentale Schwrze zu wandeln, auf dass nichts mehr bleibt, als absolutes, endloses Nichts, die totale Verneinung smtlichen Lebens! Apostle of Solitude bewegen sich an der uersten Grenze der Langsamkeit, was den traditionellen Doom Metal betrifft. Dem viermintigen, beschwrend intensiven Instrumental Of Sorrow And Ruin folgt mit Pale, Sick Horse eine bengstigendes, kriechendes Ungetm, dessen bedrohlicher Grundrhythmus furchtbare apokalyptische Visionen in die Gedankenwelt einbrennt. Zehn Minuten whrt dieses erdrckende Szenario, bis das abschlieende Surrounded By Snakes zunchst eine Verschnaufpause verspricht. Ein unglaublich gefhlvolles Solo, wie ich in seiner Eindringlichkeit bislang kaum ein zweites hrte, erffnet das Stck. Es ist kaum vorstellbar, wie so viel Leidenschaft und Sehnsucht in einen Ton gelegt werden kann. Man muss schon vollkommen emotionslos sein, um nicht gebannt dieser faszinierenden Vorstellung zu lauschen! Inmitten der Schnheit dieses Augenblicks brechen tonnenschwere Erschtterungen herein und das Gemt fr einen Moment erhellt - sinkt wieder in druende Dunkelheit herab. Weitere neun Minuten beweien Apostle Of Solitude, dass sie in der Lage sind, hervorragend konzipierte Spannungsbgen zu schaffen, die den Hrer bei aller ausgiebig inszenierten Langsamkeit stets zu fesseln vermgen. Ich glaube nicht, dass ein wahrer Freund puristischen, unverfschten Doom Metals enttuscht sein wird. Fr mich sind Apostle Of Solitude einer der grten Entdeckungen in diesem kleinen, aber ehrlichen Genre.
